China's box office has had an 11.2 percent increase in revenue compared to the same time last year, totaling 27.35 billion yuan ($4.07 billion) for the first half of 2017, according to the country's film watchdog.

The latest data from the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) shows the box office of homemade movies totaled 10.58 billion yuan from January to June 2017, and the revenue from imported movies totaled 16.76 billion yuan.

Of the top 10 box office movies, three were locally made or at least co-produced with Chinese filmmakers, and the remaining seven were imported.
