Here, we present some of the most striking images from around the world this past week.

The supermoon shines over the church of Nuestra Senora de la Encarnacion, Olvera, near Cadiz, southern Spain, as it sets on Dec 4, 2017. The combination of a full moon and this shorter distance makes the celestial body appear bigger and brighter than usual. A supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with the perigee of the moon's orbit. December's full moon is called the Cold Moon because it's the first full moon of the winter months. [Photo/VCG]
