A special nationwide crackdown has been launched against organized crime, as, despite the tangible progress that has been made by the law enforcement authorities in recent years, the country's top decision-makers have realized that organized crime, if not uprooted, poses a grave threat to social stability and national governance.

The launch of such a nationwide special crackdown against mafia-style criminal organizations is a significant decision aimed at facilitating national efforts to advance already planned causes, projects and tasks.

Law enforcement departments are expected to strike a severe blow against such illegal forces concentrated in key regions, key industries and key fields, and resolute actions must be taken to nip criminal activities in the bud whenever there are early signs of their emergence.

Relevant State departments should tighten their regular monitoring and work together with the police to perfect market access, strengthen regulations and put in place a functioning monitoring mechanism to plug any loopholes and eradicate the soil in which criminal organizations take root. Firm measures must be taken to smash any of their protective umbrellas.

Party committees and governments at various levels should take the special campaign as a major political task and formulate a set of strict and scientific methods to assess the performance of officials involved in this work.

To win such a battle, which conforms to the spirit of the Communist Party of China's 19th National Congress, will increase people' sense of gain, happiness and security, and help create a stable social environment for China to build a moderately prosperous society, win victory for socialism with Chinese characteristics and realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
