TALENT RECRUITMENT competition in the medical field is conducive to not only the performance of hospitals, but also the entire society. Beijing Youth Daily comments:

According to media reports, more than 100 hospitals nationwide came to the 2018 Guangdong province college graduate job fair to recruit medical graduates. The competition for talents has become so fierce that hospitals even at the county level are offering graduates annual salaries of 150,000 yuan ($23,941), and some hospitals are offering settlement allowances as high as 1 million yuan to attract medical PhD graduates.

The competition for talents has become especially fierce among hospitals in major cities competing for high-quality medical talent. For instance, some hospitals in Shenzhen provide an annual salary as high as 2 million yuan for doctors.

The competition reflects the shortage of medical talents at present in China, especially in gynecology, obstetrics and pediatrics after the family planning policy was eased to allow all Chinese couples to have two children.

Encouraging more students to choose medical majors at college would help solve the doctor shortage problem in the long run, and be conducive to improving the development of China's healthcare system by promoting quality medical treatment and medical services at the grass-roots level. As grass-roots hospitals attract more high-quality doctors they will be able to provide better services, which will encourage more patients to see doctors at grass-roots medical centers. This will also be conducive to solving the problem of unbalance of medical resource in many regions.
