Top 10 largest public companies
The 16th Forbes Global 2000 list was released at the beginning of June. The list includes companies in 60 countries and regions on stock exchanges with total sales of $39.1 trillion, profits of $3.2 trillion, assets of $189 trillion and market value of $56.8 trillion. All of the indicators on this list have posted double-digit year-on-year growth, with profits up 28 percent.
One thing worth noting is Chinese companies have taken up half the top 10 list for the first time since 2015.
A total of 291 companies from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong were on the list. The United States has 560 companies on the list, the most around the globe. Japan, Britain and South Korea also made the top five in countries with the most companies on the list.
The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and China Construction Bank have topped the list for six consecutive years. There are also 131 new companies on this list.
