Baidu Map, one of the biggest map services in China, has recently released a report on the urban vitality of Chinese cities to indicate different cities' appeal for talent.

The Research Report on the Vitality of Chinese Cities released in the second quarter of 2018 is based on analysis of collected data related to location, travel and searches by users on the company's open platform, according to the company.

According to feedback collected by Baidu, the hukou, or registered permanent residence, remains the most important issue among netizens.

And when compared with the various benefits conferred by the hukou, the other subsidies are seen as far less attractive, the report said.

The report selected 10 "New Deal" cities such as Xi'an, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chengdu and Tianjin for comparative analysis.

"New Deal" refers to the policies implemented over the past couple of years to attract talent, basically changing requirements related to the registered permanent residence.

According to the report, Beijing, Chengdu and Zhengzhou secured the top three spots among the 10 New Deal cities in terms of talent attraction.

In March, Beijing introduced a new policy to attract more talent.And the new household registration policy is believed to be "the most relaxed household registration policy in the past 10 years", the report said.

Meanwhile, Tianjin, which ranks second on the list of most searched cities online, is already attracting the attention of migrant workers from north China due to its closeness to Beijing.

And its high-quality education resources and fast growth are also seen as favorable factors, the report said.

Chengdu is the only southern inland city in the top three. And prices level and its new talent policy are playing an important role in improving the attractiveness of the city, according to the report.

Zhengzhou, located in the central part of China, is not only a hub for people, logistics and information flow, but also an attractive place thanks to its generous housing subsidies, the report added.
