Chinese shares close lower Wednesday

China's major stock indexes closed lower for a second trading day Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 2.08 percent at 2,723.26 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 2.32 percent, closing at 8,581.18.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, fell 2.63 percent to 1,478.51 points.
