Changshou Cable Car in Southwest China's Chongqing started operating again this month after technical maintenance and upgrading.
Built in 1964, it is the oldest cable car still in use in China. Designed by Chinese famous bridge expert Mao Yisheng, it is 282 meters long with 110 meters in vertical height, the longest and steepest one in the country.
In Chongqing, known as a mountainous city, cable cars used to be one of the major transportation options.
Changshou Cable Car has transported over 2 billion passengers since its launch, according to local transportation authorities.
With development of other public transports in recent years, the number of cable car passengers has fallen and it has become a tourist attraction.
