Premier Li Keqiang and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha met with journalists jointly on Nov 5 in the prime minister's office in Bangkok, capital of Thailand.
Both spoke highly of the achievements in cooperation between the two countries.
As good partners, the two countries have strong complementary advantages and great potential for cooperation, the Premier said, adding that cooperation between the two sides can advance fast at a stable pace, and China is willing to make joint efforts with Thailand to deepen good-neighborly and friendly relations, overcome challenges and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.
The two sides agreed to boost bilateral cooperation between China's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), in order to increase connectivity between the two areas and beyond.
They also agreed to speed up implementation of the railway project, deepen cooperation in e-commerce, smart city, law enforcement security and other fields.
In addition, they shared their experience about poverty alleviation and development for the benefit of people in the two countries.
One of the major achievements of the East Asian leaders meetings is the basic conclusion of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the Premier said, adding that a free trade area that boasts the largest population, most diversified membership and greatest potential for development will be constructed.
“This sends a strong signal to the world to uphold multilateralism and free trade, and we are confident that the agreement will be signed next year,” the Premier said, expressing his hope that the world will accelerate the implementation of RCEP to bring benefits to the people of the participating countries as soon as possible.
The Code of Conduct (COC) in the South China Sea is an upgraded version of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, but with more essential content, and positive progress has been made on its negotiation, the Premier said.
China is willing to work with countries in the region to make important contributions to the early agreement of the COC, in order to maintain lasting peace and tranquility in the South China Sea, he added.
State Councilor Xiao Jie, secretary-general of the State Council, also attended the meeting.
