Nansha Free Trade Port Area in the Guangdong provincial capital inspected and released more than 3.87 million imported online shopping bills valued at 960 million yuan ($137.14 million) on Nov 11, Singles Day, according to a statement released by Nansha Free Trade Port Area on Wednesday.

The figures showed an increase of 14 percent in bills and 22.5 percent in value compared with the same day of the previous year, said the statement.

The peak number of imported online shopping bills was as high as more than 63,000, up 21 percent from the same day of last year, the statement said.

There has been heavy container vehicle traffic in and out of the Nansha Free Trade Port Area since early morning on Monday and such heavy traffic is expected to continue till Friday, as the traditional online shopping peak usually lasts for a week, according to the statement.

To this end, Guangzhou customs has introduced concrete and effective measures in advance and worked 24 hours to prepare well for the online shopping peak.

Meanwhile customs officers in Nansha have worked closely with market supervision personnel to strengthen sampling inspections, ensuring only quality products are shipped into the bonded port areas and sold to local buyers, according to the statement.

Nansha customs has introduced a series of effective measures to support the cross-border e-commerce industry since the beginning of the year.

Major online shopping platforms, including Tmall, Netease, Vipshop and JD have settled in the Nansha Free Trade Port Area.

And the total area of warehouses for cross-border e-commerce online shopping and bonded business in Nansha Free Trade Port Area has now reached more than 350,000 square meters.
