China's human rights organizations on Thursday expressed firm condemnation and opposition to the passage of the Xinjiang-related act by the United States House of Representatives.

The China Foundation for Human Rights Development said in a statement that the act disregards the objective fact that the basic human rights of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang have been effectively protected. The act distorts Xinjiang's efforts in counter-terrorism and de-extremization in the name of protecting "human rights" and is a gross interference in China's domestic affairs.

"The 1.4 billion Chinese people will never accept nor agree to it," it said.

It said human rights are above all the rights to life, survival and development and only the people in Xinjiang have a say in the human rights situation in Xinjiang.

The past few years have been an important milestone in the history of human rights development in Xinjiang and the series of counter-terrorism measures adopted by the region have ensured local security, it said, adding that the human rights situation in Xinjiang has been greatly improved and gained support from international communities.

Some US politicians have turned a blind eye to the innocent casualties caused by previous terrorist incidents in Xinjiang and overlooked the remarkable results of counter-terrorism efforts. Their insistence on passing the act fully shows that they are not really concerned about China's human rights.

The human rights situation in the US itself is notorious. The country suffers serious racial discrimination and abuse of gun use and their initiation of overseas wars have brought serious human rights disasters to other countries and regions. US politicians, however, avoid bringing up these issues, which once again highlights their double standards in matters of anti-terrorism and human rights and fully exposes their hypocrisy.

The China Society for Human Rights Studies also said in a statement that the US has a very poor human rights record but sets itself up as a "guardian of human rights" and arrogantly criticizes the human rights situation in other countries.

The passage of the act flagrantly interferes in China's internal affairs and violates international morality and human conscience, which is an "outright hegemonic act".

"Lies can never obliterate the truth. Any attempt to smear and vilify Xinjiang and China will not succeed. Any attempt to interfere in China's internal affairs by using Xinjiang-related issues and undermining Xinjiang's stable development is doomed to failure," it said.
