Organizers select demonstration venue for Hangzhou 2022
HANGZHOU - Binjiang Gymnasium has been chosen as the demonstration venue for the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games and Asian Para Games, the organizers announced on Friday.
Binjiang Gymnasium, located in the Binjiang district of Hangzhou, is about seven kilometers from the main stadium of the Hangzhou Olympic sports center.
A test event will be held in mid-September this year to assess whether the Gymnasium will meet the demands of the Games. Construction and operation of other stadiums will look up to the standard set by the Binjiang Gymnasium.
Binjiang Gymnasium seats 5,000 spectators, was built in September 2014 and put into operation in 2017. The overall appearance of the gymnasium is, similar to the main stadium, a lotus flower.
It was the home court of the Chinese Basketball Association league side the Zhejiang Golden Bulls, before the upgrading of the facilities started in early June of this year.
During the Asian Games and Asian Para Games, the stadium will host badminton competitions.
