IPTV gaining traction among more users

The number of users using IPTV, or Internet Protocol TV, saw a steady growth in China last year, according to an annual report on the country's radio and TV sectors. The number of IPTV subscribers reached 274 million in 2019, compared with 154 million in 2018, said the report issued by the National Radio and Television Administration. With the acceleration of China's cable TV network upgrade, the number of high-definition cable TV subscribers exceeded 100 million in 2019, up 9.16 percent on a yearly basis.

June mobile phone shipments fall

Mobile phone shipments fell by 16.6 percent on a yearly basis to 28.63 million units in June, according to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. During the first six months of this year, shipments fell by 17.7 percent on a yearly basis to 153 million units, said the CAICT, a research institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
