China to probe some Australian wine imports

The Ministry of Commerce said on Tuesday it has begun an anti-dumping probe into imports of Australian wine following a request from the China Alcoholic Drinks Association on behalf of the domestic industry last month. The investigation will look at imports of wine from Australia in containers holding two liters or less in 2019, the ministry said in a statement. It would also examine any damage to the Chinese wine industry from 2015 to 2019.The probe is expected to be completed before Aug 18, 2021, but may be extended to Feb 18, 2022 under special circumstances.

NEV storage battery output surges in July

China's output of storage batteries that power new energy vehicles edged up by 6.4 percent year-on-year in July, rebounding from a 16.2-percent decrease in June, industry data showed. The output stood at 6.1 gigawatt-hours last month, and the sector's total output in the first seven months of the year plummeted by 39.8 percent to 29.6 GWh, according to the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance. In July, the installed capacity of the batteries came in at 5 GWh, up 6.8 percent both from the previous month and the same period last year.
