The Shanghai Mental Health Center and Mindfront Health, a subsidiary of Luye Life Sciences Group, reached an agreement on Sept 11 to provide non-drug medical services for patients suffering from mild to moderate mental health problems.

The two institutions said during the partnership signing ceremony that they will focus on individuals with internet addiction, trauma, anxiety and depression, perinatal psychological health issues, and children and teenagers with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Most hospitals in the country currently focus on patients suffering from moderate to severe mental health problems. The medical solutions employed are mainly drugs and physiotherapy, experts said.

Mindfront Health, on the other hand, uses interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment for mild to moderate patients with mental health problems in Australia. The collaboration with the Shanghai Mental Health Center will introduce a comprehensive therapy integrating mental, psychological, physical, group and art approaches.

The Shanghai's Mental Health System Development Program (2020-2030) issued a call to build a world-leading mental health system, starting with children, juveniles and women in the perinatal period.

Xu Yifeng, president of the Shanghai Mental Health Center, said that the collaboration is of great significance.

"We place enormous value on the international background of Mindfront Health, whose mental health treatment systems and models are world-leading and clinical practices and academic accomplishments have global reach," he said.

Mindfront Health China CEO Tang Dekai said that the collaboration will provide a powerful support for the creation of an individualized treatment system for mental disorders based on evidence-based medicine. The treatment will also be adapted to the needs of Chinese patients.
