Beijing Ducks rout Shenzhen Aviators in CBA
ZHUJI, China - The Beijing Ducks had an easy victory over the Shenzhen Aviators with 92-78 in the third round of the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA) here on Thursday.
Zhai Xiaochuan of Beijing scored a game-best 20 points plus 10 rebounds and two assists while Shen Zijie of Shenzhen got 23 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.
Shenzhen took a lead at the beginning of the first period with Shen Zijie's penalty shots before it was overtaken by Beijing with Wang Xiaohui's three pointers halfway. After that Beijing built the advantage to double digits and locked the score at 25-15 by the end of the first period.
Shen Zhen tried hard to catch up with Beijing but ended up with trailing 47-32 in the first half. Beijing took advantage of the opponent's mistakes to broaden the gap with 71-49 by the end of the third period.
Shen Zhen didn't give up on the idea of turning the situation around and demonstrated its fighting spirits. The game closed with Shen's two penalty shots, making the beginning and the ending much alike. Beijing eased past Shenzhen 92-78.
Xie Libin, the acting head coach of Beijing said that due to timely adjustment, the players have gained big progress since last match's defeat. The game saw the defense, our traditional advantage, more strong than before. I believe our team will be better and better in terms of such state of mind.
"We made many silly mistakes that lead to our failure, especially in first three quarters, our spirits were not that tough," The head coach of Shenzhen, Qiu Biao said.
