Hu's 28 leads Guangdong past Fujian in CBA
ZHUJI, China - Hu Mingxuan scored a team-high 28 points as the Guangdong Southern Tigers eased past the Fujian Sturgeons 123-111 in the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Sunday.
Zhao Rui had 26 points plus 8 assists for Guangdong. Huang Yichao scored 24 and Chen Linjian contributed 21 for Fujian.
After the tip-off, Huang's three-pointer inspired Fujian to an 8-2 run, before Zhao and Hu combined 18 points to gift Guangdong a 32-29 lead in the first quarter. Guangdong continued their momentum in the second period to increase their advantage to 64-56 at half-time.
After the break, Hu stood out again to smash 13 points in the third quarter, helping Guangdong build a 102-84 lead and kill the game.
"We kept our concentration in defense and the young players did a good job," Guangdong coach Du Feng said after the game.
