Alcohol firms report uptick in profits

Major alcohol-making enterprises saw their profits increase by 1.3 percent on a yearly basis to 103.31 billion yuan ($15.48 billion) during the first eight months of this year, according to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. During the same period, alcohol-makers with more than 20 million yuan in annual revenue from their main operations registered total revenue of 512.95 billion yuan, down 2.4 percent from a year earlier, the ministry said.

Tesla cars start shipping to Europe

The first batch of China-made Tesla Model 3 electric vehicles ready for export will start their voyage to Europe on Tuesday, said an official. Produced by Tesla Inc's Gigafactory in Shanghai, around 7,000 vehicles are expected to reach Belgium in November, before being further shipped to Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and Sweden, said Chen Yin, executive vice-mayor of Shanghai at a ceremony held at the Tesla Gigafactory to mark China-made vehicles' export to Europe.
