AIDS cases down 47 percent in Beijing

The number of newly reported cases of HIV/AIDS in Beijing was down by 1,408 diagnoses, or 47 percent, from the same period last year, the capital's health commission announced on Sunday.
Of the newly infected people this year in Beijing, 97 percent of them were infected through sexual activity, and around 76 percent of those infections involved homosexual activity.
The commission said the number of HIV/AIDS infections has been falling for the past five years.
