A weeklong education campaign to promote the study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Rule of Law and the Constitution is being carried out across the country in various forms.

Apart from media coverage, more than 1.2 billion cellphone users have received text messages promoting the spirit of the Constitution during the campaign, and more than 150 government websites at all levels have been promoting information and news related to the Constitution, Minister of Justice Tang Yijun said on Friday.

Tang also highlighted the Xi Jinping Thought on Rule of Law, saying that to study, promote and implement it has been the focus of this year's Constitution Week publicity campaign, which started Monday.

China decided in 2014 to designate Dec 4 as National Constitution Day to raise public awareness of the Constitution, and in 2018 the campaign was extended to a week to further promote the rule of law.

Tang also underlined the leading role of officials and public servants on learning, observing, upholding and being allegiant to the Constitution.

"We'll push officials at all levels to take the lead in learning and following the law, and steadily improve their capability to carry out work with law-based thinking and approach," he said at a news conference held by the State Council Information Office in Beijing on Friday.

Constitution education among the younger generation also has been emphasized. On Friday, more than 60 million students across the country participated in an activity called Reading the Constitution in the Morning.

Tang said the national legal education plan among youth will be further improved to integrate Xi Jinping Thought on Rule of Law with school education to raise its awareness among young people.

A campaign to raise legal awareness among the general public also will be carried out to advocate laws in society and make the rule of law a social consensus and basic principle, he said.
