Li Shaoyu, inheritor of Pengshui Miao embroidery, an intangible cultural heritage from Chongqing municipality, spent more than two years consumed more than 10,000 meters of embroidery thread to duplicate a Chinese calligraphy masterpiece, Dizhuming, on 9-meters of embroidery cloth. The Miao people live mainly in southern China's mountains, in Chongqing and the provinces of Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan, Hubei and Hunan. Embroidery is an essential part of Miao culture and one of China's cultural treasures. It was listed as an intangible cultural heritage in 2006.
