During the recently concluded high-level strategic dialogue between Beijing and Washington, the United States neither followed diplomatic etiquette nor abided by international diplomatic protocol. With their condescending attitude, they spoke over time and casually dismissed Chinese journalists.

"The United States does not have the qualification to be condescending when speaking to China, as the Chinese people will never accept this", said Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee.

Yang's remarks were soon acclaimed by both domestic and international audiences.

Many foreign netizens watched the full version of the dialogue on YouTube.

One comment blaming the US for asking media to leave the room before China's response received most likes.

The comment says: The US actually asked the media to leave the room after they played tough to China but Yang asked them "Why are you so afraid of the media being here", and let the media stay for China's tough responses.

Many netizens was disappointed by the "one-man rule" of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the one-sided reporting from CNN, because netizens were expecting fierce discussion from both sides.

In the video clip CNN released, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken slandered and discredited China with false claims about Hong Kong and Xinjiang, with arguments based on hearsay. Such allegations struck netizens as unconvincing.

"My English teacher would give a 0 if I'm using 'I am hearing' as the evidence."

"Exactly. It sounds so weak and unbelievably childish when he used hearsay to back his arguments on such an occasion."

Among the many comments, one quoted a Malaysian user's post which laid out China's concept of peaceful diplomacy through a number of historical facts.

"I'm from Malaysia. China has traded with Malaysia for 2000 years. In those years, they had been the world's biggest powers many times. Never once they sent troops to take our land. Admiral Zhenghe came to Malacca five times, in gigantic fleets, and a flagship eight times the size of Christopher Columbus' flagship, Santa Mara. He could have seized Malacca easily, but he did not. In 1511, the Portuguese came. In 1642, the Dutch came. In the 18th century the British came. We were colonized by each, one after another.

"China's achievement has been by hard work. Not by looting the world," the comment concludes.
