That the Communist Party of China has completed a long and successful 100 years shows socialism with Chinese characteristics works well in China and the country is on road to become a modern, prosperous, socialist and developed society by overcoming all challenges.

The CPC's 100th anniversary is a proud moment and a big day for the Chinese people. Thanks to the Party's leadership and its decision to launch reform and opening-up in the late 1970s, China has transformed from a poor and backward society into a vibrant and dynamic economy－the second largest in the world－and lifted about 800 million people out of extreme poverty.

The CPC's centennial celebrations reflect the success story of the development of modern China and socialism with Chinese characteristics. China today boasts the best of modern infrastructure, has a sound healthcare system, is a leader in digitalization and artificial intelligence, and has intensified space exploration. Indeed, it has set many development precedents for the rest of the world to follow.

China's development and progress are the fruits of the CPC's policies and the struggles of the Chinese nation. The CPC has led China to global center stage, defying all Western perceptions and smear campaigns.

The perceptions of the United States and other Western countries about China have proven wrong and their efforts to contain China's rise have failed. China is well on its way to becoming a model socialist state despite the US and some other Western countries spreading rumors about China and portraying it as a threat to the rest of the world.

The list of the CPC's achievements is very long. Due to its people-first philosophy, the CPC has stood shoulder to shoulder with the Chinese people in meeting all kinds of challenges, from natural disasters to public health emergencies. In fact, China has managed to largely contain the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic within its borders because it follows a people-first policy. China has also supplied vaccines, medicines and medical equipment to almost all corners of the world to help other countries control the pandemic.

As a matter of fact, when the West was busy hatching conspiracy theories and working on "vaccine protectionism", China was supplying COVID-19 vaccines to countries in Asia, Africa and beyond. This should be written prominently in history so future generations get to know that when the US and some other Western powers were hoarding vaccines China was supplying them to other countries.

While China acted responsibly and promptly to contain COVID-19, the health systems of the US and other Western nations failed to properly handle the public health crisis. But rather than accepting their failure and upgrading their healthcare infrastructure, by plugging the loopholes in the system and correcting the flaws, some Western countries started leveling baseless charges against China, in order to divert public attention.

The CPC has become a role model for the world, although it doesn't seek to export its paths. The failing of Western democracies and the public's increasing lack of trust in them have led to widespread protests in countries such as the US. Rising racism and xenophobia have put immigrants in some Western countries in a very difficult position. And many fear such social and ethnic divisions will increase in societies where so-called democracies have failed to deliver.

The Chinese model of development consists of the CPC's governance philosophy and socialism with Chinese characteristics and is based on openness and win-win cooperation, so as to build a community with a shared future for mankind, which President Xi Jinping emphasized in his landmark July 1 speech to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.

Socialism with Chinese characteristics has given a new direction to China, and made China and the Chinese people more confident of overcoming all kinds of challenges.
