A military solution won't work for Afghanistan, and "engaging with Taliban" would be an effective way to deal with the Afghanistan issue, said Chas W. Freeman, former US assistant-secretary of defense for international security affairs.
The countries with the biggest stake after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan are the neighbors, not the United States, and so "we have handed a problem to Afghanistan's neighbors", Freeman said.
