With a sharp drop of temperatures recently at Changbai Mountain Scenic Area in Yanbian county, Jilin province, Tianchi Lake, located at the top of the volcanic cone of the main peak of Changbai Mountain, presents a dramatic spectacle.
As the wind blows, the surface of the lake rolls like a boiling pot, providing a unique experience to tourists.
Changbai Mountain, which borders the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, remains frozen for most of the year. It has long been a major tourist destination in all seasons.
The lake is the highest, largest and deepest active crater lake in the world.
