A soft contact lens that has been proven to slow down the change in the length of children's eye axis and delay myopia progression will be highlighted at the EssilorLuxottica booth at the 4th China International Import Expo in Shanghai in November.

The daily disposable soft contact lens is the first of its kind in the world and has been approved by both the United States Food and Drug Administration and China's National Medical Products Administration, the company said during a press briefing on Monday.

Users of the product, which is scheduled for launch in China next year, need to be aged between 8 and 12.

Other major exhibits by the vision care company will include lenses customized by its Special Lens Laboratory that are catered for individuals with ultra-high refractive errors.

"The upper limit of the lens of myopia eyeglasses in China is 3,000 degrees. These lenses can reach more than 10,000 degrees," said Lim Kok Leong, president of Essilor Greater China's vision care division.

An all-in-one automatic optometry instrument that combines measurement of biological parameter, curvature, and refraction will make its global debut at this year's CIIE, the company said.

EssilorLuxottica will also release a slew of new products under the theme of "life cycle vision health management" and showcase its total solutions designed for people across all age groups. In addition, the company is set to announce initiatives and partnerships that will enhance the vision health ecosystem in the country.
