The 2022 Beijing Media Center opened on Tuesday to serve domestic and foreign media practitioners who have official journalistic status but are non-accredited in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

Apart from the Main Media Center, the non-accredited media center, set up at the Beijing International Hotel convention center and running through Feb 20, has established itself as the most widely covered non-accredited journalist media center during the Winter Olympic Games. A total of 1,770 journalists, including 453 from 130 international media organizations, have registered at the center, according to its director Xu Hejian.

The center will provide journalists with convenient media services, such as consultation, transportation, catering and medical care in the following 20 days.

The center will also organize a variety of activities including news release events, cultural exhibitions and city tours.

Photos of landmarks in cities across China, as well as indoor and outdoor venues built for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, are displayed in the center.

State-of-the-art facilities and equipment such as 8K ultra-high-definition screens and an immersive live interactive system offered at the center can help ensure that journalists get a full experience of how culture can be integrated with technology.

Xu said that as an important platform to showcase Beijing and other parts of the country, the center aims to offer journalists high-quality media services, helping them see a culturally advanced, technologically powered and environmentally friendly capital and beyond.

As part of pandemic control measures, only those who hold requisite credentials, health QR codes and negative results for COVID-19 nucleic acid tests taken within 48 hours can enter the center.
