Chinese Red Cross Foundation had provided aid for nearly 11,500 children with leukemia or congenital heart diseases and helped train 48,000 grassroots doctors and medical social workers last year, according to a report released recently.

Administered by the Red Cross Society of China, the foundation had also contributed to offering aid to Nigeria, Afghanistan, Cambodia and Sri Lanka.

In addition, the foundation had participated in disaster relief in areas stricken by earthquakes or floods in Sichuan, Hunnan, Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces and established six regional disaster preparedness storehouses, said the report that summarizes the foundation's work throughout 2022.

It had also set up more than 2,700 all-in-one first-aid kits nationwide and trained more than 14,000 licensed first-aid workers.

Bei Xiaochao, chairman of the foundation, said its public welfare expenditures totaled about 1.15 billion yuan ($166 million）last year, bringing the total amount to 10.6 billion yuan.
