With a commitment to practice low-carbon travel, Qilu Bank is launching a social security card with public transportation payment functions this September. With the joint efforts of Jinan Social Security Center and Jinan Public Traffic, the card can provide services in both bus and subway systems in Jinan, Shandong province.

Such a social security card is enabling users to enjoy three services in one: financial services, social security services and public transportation services.

The card has three independent accounts: the financial account can be used for deposit and payment settlement services; the social security account can be used for medical services; and the transportation account allows cardholders to ride buses and subways by swiping.

When holders use the card, the corresponding account is automatically read by the card readers of different departments.

According to Qilu Bank, it also provides discounts for the Jinan bus and subway fees. The elderly, disabled individuals and veterans can enjoy free rides. The card can also be used in more than 300 cities across the country after opening the transportation interoperability function.

Cardholders can go to any one of 12 Qilu Bank branches with their valid ID cards to obtain the newly designed card with the "Resident Service Card" logo for free. According to Qilu Bank, the pilot program is currently being conducted at the bank's Quancheng branch, with other branches gradually offering the issuance service from mid-September.

Since the issuance of the social security card by Qilu Bank in 2015, it has actively expanded the scope and regions of services. Qilu Bank has successively issued the third-generation social security card in Jinan, Liaocheng, and Tai'an regions.

The card can be applied by urban and rural residents including infants and children, employees of enterprises and institutions, and retirees, serving a total of 850,000 social security card customers.

To meet customers' multiple needs, Qilu Bank has established 90 card issuance service outlets for social security cards, 11 on-site card issuance service outlets and 62 outlets for new card replacement with the same card number. These outlets can provide instant service and fulfill one-stop applications.

Customers holding Qilu Bank social security cards can enjoy some 10 fee waivers, including free issuances, free replacement card fee and a free cell phone message reminder service as well as free ATM interbank withdrawal.

They can also borrow books without a deposit from Jinan Library and 44 bookstores in the city. The card can be used as a bank card for withdrawing housing provident funds in Jinan city.

Customers can apply for an electronic card through the bank's cell phone app and enjoy exclusive cardholder activities organized by Qilu Bank and have the opportunity to win credits for mobile phone charges and cooking machines.
