The village also uses a "sponge city" storm-water management system to prevent flooding.
"We collect rain that naturally permeates the ground, subject it to sediment filtration and disinfection, and then use it for such purposes as irrigation and cleaning," explained village property and IT staffer Geng Lei.
Technological innovations extend beyond environmental protection, with such amenities as the cloud-facilitated Asian Games Village and unmanned power distribution switchgear equipment.
