The Jinan-Zhengzhou High-speed Railway linking the two capital cities of Shandong and Henan is scheduled to open on Friday, serving as another new section of the national "eight verticals and eight horizontals" high-speed railway network.

Its significance for Shandong province — which holds the "four horizontals and six verticals" network — is about connecting multiple high-speed railway corridors between the north and the south, and the east and the west of the province.

The Shandong section of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High-speed Railway opens five stations — Jinan West Station, Changqing Station, Chiping South Station, Liaocheng West Station and Shenxian Station. It also has three traction substations, namely Shenxian county, Liaocheng West, and Chiping South, and the power supply of the three traction substations are all provided by the Shandong Liaocheng Power Supply Company of State Grid.

The power supply of the traction substations, involving multiple relocation and coordination, met with various difficulties. Therefore, the Shandong Liaocheng Power Supply Company of State Grid sought support from the provincial company and took the initiative to provide "one-stop" services for the construction of the high-speed railway.

After six rounds of power supply plan review meetings and multiple project feasibility studies, and engineering design, the company sought to provide service with safety and reliability. The final layout determined that each of the six individual 220 kilovolt substations should provide a line. This will provide each of the three traction substations with two power sources, with one as the main supply and the other as backup.

The construction involved four districts and counties in Liaocheng, including Dongchangfu district, some tourist resort areas, Chiping district and Shenxian county. It requires the construction and relocation of 230 tower foundations and the installation of 68.4 kilometers of lines. In total, the city needs to relocate power lines in 136 locations, covering a distance of 56.5 km, the largest relocation of this kind in Liaocheng over the past 10 years.

The power supply company has established a special team to develop detailed plans and coordinate human arrangements. By establishing a daily-reporting work mechanism, it closely monitors key jobs such as layout design, material supply, tower construction and progress control, ensuring that the quantity, quality and schedule all meet the standards.

Also, the power supply company organized a Party member service team to maintain the substations and lines, ensuring the successful operation of the power supply equipment and laying the foundation for the opening of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High-speed Railway.
