In the bustling city of Quanzhou, Fujian province, a cross-Strait love story unfolds between Kao Ruei-Yang, a young man from Taiwan, and his wife from Quanzhou city of Fujian province.

They navigate the intricacies of life, sharing their experiences and the joy of raising their baby on their Douyin account, Cross-Strait Couple, with more than 10,000 followers.

The couple's social media journey began in 2021, two years after Kao moved to Quanzhou. During his two-year stay on the mainland, Kao found that many newcomers from Taiwan had run into difficulties due to limited knowledge of the Chinese mainland. He then decided to share his experience and life on social media.

"The first short video we shared was about how a husband from Taiwan shows love to his wife, kind of documenting our love story," Kao said, adding that he wants to share his daily life as a way of fostering a harmonious online community and boosting a friendly connection between followers from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

He hopes his videos will draw more young talent in Taiwan to work and start their businesses in the Chinese mainland.

Kao, the operational lead for the Quanzhou-Taiwan human resources service industry park, sees himself as a ferryman who serves as a bridge between young people in the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

"Working on cross-Strait human resources coordination involves understanding the actual needs of both sides and ensuring effective follow-up services. The goal is to ensure that young talent from Taiwan can work comfortably and enjoy life on the Chinese mainland."

At the end of last year, he helped two young entrepreneurs from Taiwan run a Taiwan restaurant in the investment zone for Taiwan businesses in Quanzhou. It provides favorable policies, including rent and startup loans, encouraging young talent from Taiwan to explore more opportunities.

Like his lovely family, Kao described cross-Strait integration as mutual acceptance and sharing. He said that by treating each other with sincerity and leveraging complementary strengths, the pace of integration between the two sides can be accelerated.

"I will also play the role of a ferryman, helping more young people from Taiwan to understand the Chinese mainland and come for work and start their businesses."
