During the current cold weather sweeping northern and central parts of the nation, the State Grid Corp of China is making every effort to maintain electrical power supply and guarantee people’s livelihoods.

In Anyang, Henan province, which has experienced strong cold waves, local power supply companies of the State Grid are taking multiple measures to ensure stable operation of the grid.

The companies said they closely track meteorological changes to prevent electricity shortages caused by intensified cooling, and monitor real-time changes in power load at multiple levels to arrange the operation mode of the power grid reasonably.

In addition, they have strengthened the inspection and maintenance of the main distribution network equipment, such as segmented switches and distribution cabinets, and use technologies such as infrared temperature measurement and drone inspection to conduct real-time detection of power equipment, discovering and eliminating hidden dangers in time.

The companies said that they have also strengthened regional service linkage mechanisms. They improve emergency material reserves in various towns and stations, and establish emergency teams that are on duty 24 hours a day to ensure that stable electricity supply in key areas, such as transportation hubs, hospitals and schools, is available.

To keep abreast of people’s electricity demands and release information about power supply services in time, the companies actively leverage online service channels such as the People’s Voice WeChat Group and Electricity Safety Guy, as well as visiting households and distributing leaflets on electricity safety, building a solid bridge for communication between themselves and the users, the companies added.

According to the power supply company in Neihuang county of Anyang, it has so far completed special inspections of 20 substations, 22 transmission lines and 196 distribution lines, eliminating 14 equipment safety hazards. The company’s 29 emergency teams, including 142 personnel, 38 types of vehicles, and 25 emergency generators, are all now on duty.
