With industries embracing the "green wave", China's port-use construction machinery is undergoing the recent transformation of electrification, low carbon and intellectualization.

During a press release on Thursday, 15 new energy port facilities manufactured by Sany Marine Heavy Industry Co Ltd were showcased. The facilities include new energy reach stackers, fork lift trucks, container trucks, heavy lift trucks, unmanned flat cars and charging cars.

According to Sany Marine Heavy Industry, each facility is equipped with different energy-saving technology, to lower energy consumption as much as possible. For example, the energy recycle system of the new energy reach stacker and fork lift truck recycles 4 kilowatt-hours of electricity per hour, while the electric container truck saves 15 percent energy and 73 percent cost compared with traditional one.

Fu Weizhong, chairman of Sany Marine Heavy Industry, said: "During the past six years, our overall sales grew at a compound annual growth rate of 35 percent, while the overseas sales had been growing at 85 percent year-on-year for many years."

According to Chen Jing, general manager of the company, every year, Sany Marine Heavy Industry spent 5 percent of its sales revenues on research and development.

Another trend of China's port-use construction machinery is intellectualization. A series of intelligent applications such as intelligent central control, automatic box alignment, and automatic identification of boxes make the equipment management of ports and logistics enterprises more intelligent.

Zhang Ruxing, secretary general of the branch of container of the China Ports Association, said: "China's port facilities are embracing the 'green wave'. With concerted efforts from the association and enterprises, we will jointly promote the construction of green, low-carbon ports."
