Sixth Daliangshan Theater Festival opens in Xichang

The sixth edition of the annual Daliangshan Theater Festival opened in Xichang, Sichuan province, on Nov 8. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

At the 5th edition of the festival in 2023, Tobias Biancone, director general of ITI, announced that he will be inviting Samoan theater artist Lemi Ponifasio to create a production.

According to Biancone, the production is a piece rooted in Chinese ethnic culture, yet created with a contemporary vision.
