Chinese tech heavyweight Alibaba Group Holding Ltd announced on Thursday the establishment of Alibaba e-commerce business group, with Jiang Fan appointed as the CEO of this group.

Wu Yongming, CEO of Alibaba, wrote in an internal letter to employees that the businesses that will be integrated into the new business group include Taobao and Tmall group, Alibaba international digital commerce group, the 1688 marketplace, and the secondhand products trading platform Xianyu, covering the whole industrial chains both at home and abroad.

Wu said the new business group will serve both domestic and global consumers, as well as help more small and medium-sized enterprises expand their presence in domestic and overseas markets by integrating all e-commerce resources.
