With the acceleration of the construction of China (Xinjiang) Free Trade Zone, aircraft bonded maintenance is becoming a new engine for the development of the regional aviation industry.

On June 21, the first bonded aircraft periodic maintenance project in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, undertaken by the Engineering Technology Xinjiang Branch of China Southern Airlines, was officially launched.

A Boeing 737-800 freighter registered as 4L-CMX, owned by Georgia's Camex Airlines, commenced C periodic bonded maintenance at Urumqi Tianshan International Airport, with a planned maintenance period of seven days. This business marked a "zero" breakthrough in the field of in-depth bonded maintenance in Xinjiang and pushes the bonded aircraft maintenance business in China (Xinjiang) Free Trade Zone into a new stage of high-tech in-depth maintenance.

The aircraft bonded maintenance business has the advantages of "low cost and high efficiency" and demonstrates strong competitiveness under the dual support of policies and technology. Under the bonded maintenance model, the tariff cost of aviation materials is greatly reduced, which helps to build a regional maintenance center, greatly reduce maintenance costs and cycles, and provide strong policy support for international customers.

Since November 2024, when China Southern Airlines undertook the operation of Xinjiang's first aircraft bonded maintenance and public bonded warehouse business, it has deeply cultivated the international maintenance market.

In January 2025, it successfully completed the first bonded maintenance project in Georgia, which was highly recognized by customers. Camex Airlines immediately expressed its intention to carry out C-check maintenance cooperation with the Engineering Technology Xinjiang Branch of China Southern Airlines.

Since then, China Southern Airlines has maintained close cooperation with the Civil Aviation Administration of Georgia and Camex Airlines, simultaneously advancing C-check preparation, authority review, and agreement signing. On April 23, it officially obtained the certification and authorization of the Civil Aviation Administration of Georgia, enabling it to undertake maintenance business for Georgian-registered aircraft within the authorized scope.
