Digital empowerment boosts BRI countries
The 2025 World Internet Conference Digital Silk Road Development Forum will continue to focus on promoting digital exchange and cooperation to support Belt and Road countries' digital development, according to a news conference held on Thursday. The 2025 forum is scheduled to take place on July 24 in Quanzhou, Fujian province, under the theme "Embracing the Digital and Intelligent Maritime Silk Road — Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace". Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the World Internet Conference, said this year's forum will carry forward the cooperative spirit of the Silk Road, highlight digital empowerment for industrial transformation, bring together insights from diverse stakeholders, and work to bridge the digital divide and cultivate talent.
Qinghai floods prompt emergency response
The Ministry of Water Resources on Thursday activated a Level-IV emergency response to flooding in Qinghai province amid a new round of heavy rainfall. According to forecasts, heavy rainfall is expected in eastern and southern Qinghai from Thursday to Saturday. As a result, significant increases in water levels are anticipated in the upper mainstream and tributaries of the Yellow River in the province, with some rivers potentially experiencing floods exceeding warning levels.
