BEIJING, Sept. 19 -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Friday chaired a State Council executive meeting which reviewed efforts to build a "beautiful China" on all fronts.
The meeting also studied the implementation of domestic product standards and related policies for government procurement. It also discussed and approved in principle a revised draft of the law on banking regulation and supervision, deciding to submit it to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for review.
The meeting highlighted that the construction of a beautiful China is a long-term, systematic endeavor, and called for the coordinated promotion of high-quality development and high-level environmental protection.
Efforts to consolidate and expand achievements in pollution prevention and control must be sustained, as should efforts in ecological conservation and restoration, it said.
It emphasized that the establishment of domestic product standards and related policies for government procurement is a crucial measure to improve the government procurement system, and noted that it also represents a practical step in implementing China's policy of equal treatment for domestic and foreign-funded enterprises in the government procurement sector.
Work should be grounded in reality, and reasonable classification and clear specifications should be provided for the key components and critical processes of certain products, the meeting said.
Standards should be implemented steadily, enabling enterprises to plan their investments and industrial layouts ahead of time, and ensuring a fair competitive landscape.
The meeting noted that the stability of banking financial institutions is crucial to the stability of China's financial system and the security of public assets. It called for the further improvement of management systems, and for strict legal action to be taken against illegal financial activities and violations of laws or regulations.
