Visa, a world leader in digital payments, announced on Monday that Elaine Chang has been appointed as group general manager for Visa Greater China. Chang succeeds Shirley Yu, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Chang's career spans more than 30 years, holding senior leadership roles at Amazon, Amazon Web Services and Intel. Following 20 years working at Intel, she joined Amazon in 2013 and was named president of Amazon China in 2016. Last year, she took on the role of global vice-president for generative AI and machine learning go-to-market at AWS, shaping AWS' go-to-market approach and helping customers unlock the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Stephen Karpin, regional president for Visa Asia Pacific, said: "Chang's deep expertise and knowledge will accelerate Visa's aspiration to be the best way to pay and be paid.
