Today, the Temple of Heaven Park is not only a cherished leisure spot for citizens and tourists but an important site for studying ancient Chinese architecture, rituals, and culture. Since being designated a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit by the State Council in 1961, the preservation and restoration work at the Temple of Heaven has provided valuable cultural heritage protection experience to the world. In 1998, it was officially listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO.
