Ye Hanbing, former vice-governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, as well as former director of Sichuan provincial public security department, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from public office over serious violations of Party disciplines and national laws, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision announced on Monday.

Investigations revealed that Ye formed cliques, engaged in superstitious activities, and resisted organizational inspection. He accepted banquets and travel arrangements that might affect the impartial performance of official duties. He also visited private clubs, improperly allocated and used official vehicles, and had expenses that should be borne by himself paid by subordinate units or other individuals.

He sought benefits for others in the selection and appointment of cadres and accepted property in return. In addition, he accepted gifts, cash and used his official power and influence to secure benefits for his relatives. Ye interfered in and meddled with law enforcement activities and capitalized on his official position to help others secure benefits in project contracting, enterprise operations and other fields, accepting huge amounts of property in return.

Consequently, Ye has been terminated as a deputy to the 12th Sichuan Provincial Congress of the Communist Party of China. His case, along with his illegal gains, have been transferred to the procuratorial organs for examination and prosecution.

The 60-year-old is a native of Zhejiang province. He joined the Party in October 1985 and began working in August 1982.

Ye served in the public security sector of Zhejiang from August 1986 to January 2018, holding positions such as head of the public security bureau in Huzhou, Wenzhou and Hangzhou.

In 2018, he began serving as vice-governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province and director of the provincial public security department. Ye was placed under investigation in May this year.
