Traveling with pets and hanfu photography among new tourism trends

Based on the continuous improvement of tourism offerings, travel platform Trip.com Group predicts a robust Chinese New Year travel market this year, marked by strong growth in both supply and demand and an overall upgrade in service quality.

According to a recent report by the online travel agency, during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday young travelers are opting for southern China's warm havens to relax and reunite with families, fueled by the region's agreeable climate, culinary delights, and cultural depth.

Families with children are driving the Spring Festival travel market, showcasing strong spending power. Their destination preferences are split by age. The online travel agency's data shows that families with children aged 12 and younger favor tropical getaways in Southeast Asia or warmer Chinese cities. Meanwhile, those with teenagers tend to choose global metropolises like Sydney and Shanghai.

Beyond traditional travel needs, Spring Festival trips are becoming more diverse and personalized. Traveling with pets has emerged as a new trend, with increasing inquiries about pet-friendly hotels and pet transport policies. Hanfu (traditional Chinese attire) travel photography is also popular, especially in cultural destinations with ancient architecture and picturesque views.

Inbound tourism continues to gain strong momentum. Foreign tourists' favorite Chinese destinations include modern metropolises like Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Beijing, as well as cities famed for their cultural tourism, such as Chongqing and Harbin. In terms of the countries where tourists travel from, bookings from Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, and Russia are leading the way.
