As Spring Festival approaches, a pop-up exhibition celebrating Miao ethnic craftsmanship has brought a burst of color and cultural vitality to Beijing.

The Miao Craftsmanship, Glowing Beijing pop-up exhibition and sales event opened on Friday at the downtown Beijing Yuxun Jingxi store, offering an immersive visual experience of ethnic clothing, ornaments and music.

The event is organized by Beijing Gongmei Group and hosted by Taijiang county of southwestern Guizhou province.

It is centered on the county's intangible cultural heritage and presents centuries of Miao traditions and craftsmanship in a contemporary urban setting.

Taijiang is well-known for its local Miao dragon dance with fireworks, silver ornament-forging, and intricate Miao embroidery, all of which have formed a living cultural tapestry passed down through generations.

The Taijiang exhibition represents a key step in strengthening cultural collaboration between Beijing and Guizhou and also developing new consumption models centered on intangible heritage, according to the organizers.

The pop-up exhibition is designed around the theme "New Year in the Miao village", showcasing traditional Miao embroidered costumes alongside finely detailed embroidery panels, towering mountain-shaped silver headdresses, and layered silver ornaments, including bracelets, necklaces, collars, earrings, and combs.

A dedicated Taijiang Selection retail area offers a wide range of innovative intangible heritage products, including clothing, bags, jewelry, household items, and food.

Representatives from Beijing Gongmei Group and the Taijiang county government said in their remarks that the event is part of efforts to establish a long-term cooperation mechanism that will allow Taijiang's intangible heritage products to be regularly showcased in the capital city.
