Also, in celebration of International Women's Day, the renowned auction house opened the private sales exhibition Celebrating Women: A Visual Dialogue of Her Narratives at Christie's Shanghai from March 7-9. The exhibition highlights 13 preeminent female artists from both East and West, including Tracey Emin, Yayoi Kusama, Cheng Xinyi, and Song Kun, among others.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Christie's in Asia. In recent years, the Asian art market has maintained strong growth momentum, according to Rebecca Yang Yuancao, chairman of Christie's China.
"Especially, Asian millennial collectors have shown outstanding performance globally, demonstrating high market sensitivity and enthusiasm for participation. Based on this, we remain confident in the future development of the Asian art market and continue to be optimistic about its long-term potential," Yang said.
