The 23rd Yulan Magnolia Flower Appreciation Season officially opened at the Beijing International Sculpture Park on Friday, where more than 5,000 magnolia trees representing 19 varieties are coming into bloom across the grounds. Themed "Spring Quest: Magnolia Exploration Tour", the event will run until March 31.
A signature spring cultural tourism brand in Beijing's Shijingshan district, this year's event has adopted a "park plus" integrated development model. Using Yulan magnolia flowers as a medium and the park as a platform, the event integrates diverse sectors such as culture, tourism, sports, technology, and commerce, driving the transformation of urban parks from "simple recreational spaces" to "multifunctional public cultural spaces".
This year's event features nighttime flower-viewing experiences, revitalizing the spring nighttime economy. During the event, the core areas of the park will be enhanced with creative lighting, integrating illumination with the park's sculptures and magnolia landscape.
During the daytime, the "flower deity" garden parade takes place from 10:40 to 11:10 am each day. Full-scale processions are scheduled on weekends, while designated interactive sessions are held on weekdays. The parade route circles the core Yulan magnolia garden, allowing for close-up interactions and photo opportunities, creating an immersive ancient-style garden experience.
Small-scale traditional Chinese music concerts are being held twice daily — one in the morning and one in the afternoon — featuring a rotating repertoire of classic pieces, while daily flash mob performances in the Yulan magnolia garden bring solo performances beneath the Yulan magnolia trees. On the morning of March 31, a poetry gathering will take place, infusing the spring garden experience with profound cultural heritage.
