System to deal with nuclear accidents

Export limits
China will limit the number of domestic firms that can
export cars next year, an official from the Ministry of Commerce said last
week.
Zhang Ji, deputy director of the ministry's mechanics, electronics,
and hi-tech industry department, said the ministry is drafting a new system to
readjust automobile export orders that will come into effect in
January.
Under the new system, the government will limit the number of
companies that can export vehicles, through the use of export
licences.
Emergency system
An emergency response system to deal
with nuclear accidents and ensure the safety of nuclear
facilities including those used for military purposes will be put into
place over the next five years.
The system, which was approved last week,
will operate at the national, provincial, municipal and power operator levels,
according to the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010) of the National Co-ordinating
Committee for Nuclear Emergency.
At least 10 technical support centres
and four rescue teams will be set up throughout the country to improve the
ability to handle nuclear emergencies.
