China's insurance regulator is working on plans to further reform the regulatory framework for insurers' capital management to boost efficiency, officials said on Wednesday.

According to Chen Xinquan, secretary of the discipline inspection commission of China Insurance Regulatory Commission, the regulator will further expand investment channels for insurers and improve the proportion that insurers can invest in infrastructure.

Meanwhile, insurers will also be encouraged to finance projects in the western region that feature local characteristics and are in line with the government planning.
