The dream of becoming a mermaid has created business opportunities for some. Pan Gaojie, a professional model at the age of 23, runs an online store that sells self-made mermaid costumes. She receives orders before purchasing and producing the costumes, a way that helps her save costs. A costume can sell for 1,800 to 4,000 yuan ($268.7 to 597.2).
