The Chongqing-based, State-owned enterprise is taking aim at a higher position similar to the joint ventures', and the recently launched large-size SUV is carrying out the mission.

The Changan Automobile Co's Changan CS95 has eight variants with options for five seats or seven seats, and front-wheel-drive or 4-wheel-drive, and their price starts from 159,800 yuan and caps at 229,800 yuan.

Its 2-liter turbocharged direct injection engine, outputting power equivalent to a 3.5-liter natural aspiration engine, was the fruit of the carmaker's labor after six years of work at the British research and development center.

Changan's United States center engineered the chassis for the SUV to improve the clearance and off-road capability.

The Italian-designed exterior boasts a unique front grille winged by the C-shaped headlights. The side silhouette stretches through the car body and illustrates the tough style in the company's eye.

The carmaker will offer a 10-year or 200,000-km warranty to the first 10,000 buyers for their ease of use.
